/in Culture, Employee Development /by René HainesHave you heard of the Corporate Transparency Act that begins in January? I hadn’t either until I was having a recent casual conversation with a neighbor who works for a law firm. I’ve included an article that one of their Happy fall…kind of! Personally, I am in complete denial and I’m still wearing shorts and thinking (and acting) like it is still summer. How about you?
Decoding Financial Statements for Effective Decision Making: From Traction Gaps to Strategic Insights
/in Finance /by René HainesHave you ever felt like financial statements are written in a foreign language? And don’t get me started on the jargon: balance sheets, income statements, equity, liabilities… Obtaining valuable data often seems like a challenging task for many business owners. This month we’re straightening up that learning curve. I’ve noticed an issue: many business owners […]

/in Communication, Corporate Transparency Act /by René HainesHave you heard of the Corporate Transparency Act that begins in January? I hadn’t either until I was having a recent casual conversation with a neighbor who works for a law firm. I’ve included an article that one of their attorneys wrote on the topic. Please make sure you get with your CPA and/or attorney to know whether or not you are required to file the CTA form in January of 2024.
If you would like to discuss them further, or if I can be of any further assistance, please let me know.
Enjoy the rest of your summer and take time to recharge your batteries!

/in Leadership, Productivity /by René HainesWhat do you know about neuroscience? Do you know that it impacts how you run your company? The two articles I’ve chosen this month are about emotional intelligence and being “present” and how neuroscience plays a part in Warren Buffett’s calendar habits. Hey, if it is good enough for Warren, then I think we can learn something from it.
I hope you will learn a few nuggets of knowledge from one or hopefully both of these articles.
If you would like to discuss them further, or if I can be of any further assistance, please let me know.

/in Leadership /by René HainesHappy summer! While most of us are thinking about our vacation plans, others are looking at their 3rd quarter goals and deciding if the annual goals are going to happen.
While some businesses are harmonious when it comes to their teams, others are not so fortunate. Do you think about conflict in the workplace? Do you accept that it can actually be healthy dialogue? The two articles I’m sharing this month discuss how to make disagreements productive, and how to make feedback a team habit. How are you at delivering difficult conversations to your team? It’s never easy, but sometimes we make it much worse than it has to be. This month’s second article gives some great examples of what not to do. If you watch the TV show Succession, you’ll definitely recognize some of these tactics. Don’t be like the Roy family!

/in Employee Development /by René HainesWhen is the last time you dealt with burnout? What about your team? I’m hearing more and more about people dealing with stress that is leading to burnout. I don’t know if it is a consequence of the pandemic, economic uncertainty, financial pressures, the housing market, or some combination thereof, but it is real. I recently saw this article in HBR and really liked the two-minute checkup. It’s quick and easy and accurate. You can use it multiple times throughout the year and your team will benefit from this tool. Give it a try and let me know your results.
