Have you heard of the Corporate Transparency Act that begins in January? I hadn’t either until I was having a recent casual conversation with a neighbor who works for a law firm. I’ve included an article that one of their attorneys wrote on the topic. Please make sure you get with your CPA and/or attorney to know whether or not you are required to file the CTA form in January of 2024.

If you would like to discuss them further, or if I can be of any further assistance, please let me know.

Enjoy the rest of your summer and take time to recharge your batteries!

What do you know about neuroscience? Do you know that it impacts how you run your company? The two articles I’ve chosen this month are about emotional intelligence and being “present” and how neuroscience plays a part in Warren Buffett’s calendar habits. Hey, if it is good enough for Warren, then I think we can learn something from it.
I hope you will learn a few nuggets of knowledge from one or hopefully both of these articles.

If you would like to discuss them further, or if I can be of any further assistance, please let me know.

June 2023

Happy summer!  While most of us are thinking about our vacation plans, others are looking at their 3rd quarter goals and deciding if the annual goals are going to happen.
While some businesses are harmonious when it comes to their teams, others are not so fortunate.  Do you think about conflict in the workplace?  Do you accept that it can actually be healthy dialogue?  The two articles I’m sharing this month discuss how to make disagreements productive, and how to make feedback a team habit. How are you at delivering difficult conversations to your team? It’s never easy, but sometimes we make it much worse than it has to be. This month’s second article gives some great examples of what not to do. If you watch the TV show Succession, you’ll definitely recognize some of these tactics. Don’t be like the Roy family!

May 2023

When is the last time you dealt with burnout?  What about your team?  I’m hearing more and more about people dealing with stress that is leading to burnout.  I don’t know if it is a consequence of the pandemic, economic uncertainty, financial pressures, the housing market, or some combination thereof, but it is real.  I recently saw this article in HBR and really liked the two-minute checkup.  It’s quick and easy and accurate.  You can use it multiple times throughout the year and your team will benefit from this tool.  Give it a try and let me know your results.

April 2023

Do you struggle with delegation? Are you empowering your team? The first article in this month’s newsletter addresses the importance of letting go of some of your responsibilities so that you can focus on more important things. This is the only way to have a succession plan for the future.

March 2023

Spring is in the air…or at least it was! I hope that wherever this newsletter finds you, that you’re looking out your window and starting to see signs of new growth and new life.
The articles I’ve chosen to share this month are about growth and professional development, for both staff members and leaders. We all need to continue to challenge ourselves to learn something new every day. I like to think of myself as a forever learner, do you?
In a conversation with a client the other day, we talked about complacency. In my opinion, it is a disease that can spread quickly. Resistance to learning new things is a form of complacency. I hope you will be inspired to keep challenging yourselves and your teams each and every day.
If we haven’t chatted in a while, please drop me a line to let me know what’s happening in your world.

February 2023

Happy February!
For those of you who know me well, you know that the topic of leadership is near and dear to me. However, it has to be more than a topic; it’s about the actionable steps that we take as leaders. Don’t just talk about it, do it!
I’ve seen many situations where leaders are too “proud” to ask for help. In my humble opinion, showing some vulnerability is a great strength. Whether it’s asking for someone’s opinion about your behavior or asking someone for help with a project, you should realize these are not weaknesses.
The two articles I’ve included this month go into more detail about how to be a better leader. I hope you find them helpful.
As always, I would love to hear your thoughts.

January 2023

I hope 2023 is off to a great start for everyone. I had a great 2-day retreat with my EOS Advisory Board clients last week, and every company that participates had their best year ever in 2022! I’m really proud of that group and how they hold each other accountable.
As we discussed their strategic plans for 2023, we talked a lot about how to engage and appreciate employees and how important that is to the sustainability of all small businesses. So, I thought it appropriate to include a couple of articles in this month’s newsletter on the topic. I hope you find some useful information in both articles.

December 2022

As the year is coming to a close, this is a great time for reflection…both personally and professionally. Often times, these two worlds intersect. As a leader, do you know what challenges your team is dealing with at home that might be impacting them at work? One of this month’s articles focuses on how being a care giver impacts so many, whether it be for children, parents or anywhere in between. I hope you find the article thought provoking. The other article discusses the importance of doing a SWOT analysis. I find doing this near the end of the year to be quite beneficial. Assess how your year was, learn from it and apply that to your 2023 plan.
